Glass as Newton as Vision

A colleague sends along this view in Quartz, of Google Glass as something akin to the Apple Newton, visionary in direction, but something that will pave the way for future applications and players in this space.  I repeat too, that the idea is not new, we tested it a decade ago, but attention is being paid to it because Google is involved.  It is fundamentally augmented reality with the hope of more convenient hardware.  The list of possible possible applications given is interesting, but at a widget rather than surprise application level.  I agree that voice control will not likely be the best interface for its use.  Ultimately eye or neural control makes sense.

And some further thoughts, in Technology Review,  about the social issues that are behind the use of head worn devices.   What will this growing  backlash mean?    I also sense this is fundamentally different from say the bluetooth ear device,  also an indication of implied inattention.  Rude or just better connected?
