Big Data and Manufacturing

In McKinsey. On big data and manufacturing.  Talked that just yesterday with an enterprise.  It is clearly a challenge. Lots of unstructured data is common.   It becomes unusable quickly.  But they understand it can be used to answer questions previously untenable. My question is always:  Who is asking the questions?  How do I connect them with the answers?
